The screen on the existing British gas UP1L controller was failing. Bought this unit to control water and heating separately. Id already compared the wiring between the 2 units before ordering so knew it was the same. Internal documentation confirms this. The wiring plate that it came with wasnt used as the original one was the same. So for me it was a case of turn off the power, unclip the old unit, clip on the new unit then switch the power back on. Quite possibly took me under a minute Happy customer.
