I had to get this to connect an Apple Superdrive to my new MacBook Pro 13 M1. The Superdrive would not work when connected to a Caldigit TS3 dock. The Superdrive will only work with a passive USBC to USB adapter. I had success getting my Apple Superdrive to work with my MacBook Pro using this adapter.

You are going to need this little adapter. With everything turning to USBC and all your hardware is USB. This adapter helps with all that kind of transition. My SuperDrive will not work without it.

Nice to have with my new MacBook Air. Not realizing that you would need a way to adapt all your old USB devices abs cords into Apples new use of the USBC this is a must have. Priced nice for the quality that you get. Bought a second one since this original purchase because its nice to have with you and a spare in my computer bag

Bought my daughter an IPad Pro for her graduation gift. It has been an amazing tablet that she can do school work on as well as provide hours upon hours of entertainment. Works as intended. Bought tis at time I purchased my new Mac. Later I found smaller versions, but wanted at least one Apple made adapter cause you never know when buying third party adapters.
